Free audio routing solution
Downloads mac downloads audio os x yosemite os x. Or you can use AU lab + soundflower to do the same for free. But it also gives you finer control over your Mac's sound.
- SoundFlower - busted in Yosemite Boom 2 - lets you mute and set volume to 0, but all volume levels higher than 0 are the same. Kuwatec - not suitable for this purpose, as it has no UI so you can't send the output to the display. Sound Siphon - provides full volume control to your DisplayPort device.
- The current version of the Cisco AnyConnect client available through WebStore (4.8.00175) is officially supported and compatible with Mac OS X versions that support 64-bit applications including Mac OS versions 10.13 (High Sierra), 10.14 (Mojave), and 10.15 (Catalina).
Soundflower Software
Soundflower is a free system extension that lets you channel audio from one application to another. Perhaps you want to take the audio playing in a movie in your web browser and record it using QuickTime's audio input? Inter-application audio driver Soundflower can help you do this by emulating the interface of an audio device and allowing any audio application to send and receive audio with no other support needed.

Soundflower Mac Yosemite Installer
Marvin Webster•a few seconds ago It gets the job done, but after the job is done your internal speakers will no longer work nor will your internal microphone. You must change your settings back to normal. It took me a long time to figure this out. A real pain in the butt application, but it works.Don Ball•a few seconds ago Trying to uninstall is even more horrid. Bits and such still hiding out that app cleaners could not quite remove. Had to Time Machine.ray Torres•a few seconds ago i keep getting an error but it wont tell me why therefore i can not finish the install.S. McCandlish•a few seconds ago This was good in its day (like around 2014), but hasn't worked properly for years in newer versions of macOS. The modern and much more capable replacement is Loopback. (Some other software can do some of the same things, including Boom2, Movavi Sound Grabber, and various other utilities for grabbing streaming audio and video, but most of them really are intended just for that, e.g. recording Spotify streams.) I prefer Loopback, because it's a configurable virtual sound device, and can even be set up on an app-by-app basis (e.g., you can set it to record some long TED talk or whatever on YouTube in Chrome without echoing the audio to your physical output device, then go watch a movie in VLC without the audio from that interfering with your TED recording). Because the OS sees it as a device, it can be set in one for other purposes, such as screen-recording software like Voila. You can thus use such a combo to rip any online video even if you can't find a downloading app or browser extension that supports the site in question. (The only downside is you have to let the whole thing play from start to finish while you grab it. So, go make dinner or something.)I'll give this three stars, since it's still usable on old versions of Mac OS X. However, various newer, better programs are also.Tammy Creo•a few seconds ago I have tried hundreds of time to download the software, but all I get when I click on the software is the installation over and over and over. I cannot find the actual software to use.Walewatchers Ltd•a few seconds ago not working on my MacBook Air Catalina no sound in Manycam. I have tried every possible way of installing it but fails every timeFYPNLP .•a few seconds ago complete garbage. Avoid at all costs. Sets itself as default sound output. You've been warnedWilliam Keyser•a few seconds ago A very light, indispensable tool for opening up a stock Mac's audio capabilities. Combined with AU Lab, I was able to easily equalize my Klipsch 2.1 desktop speakers that came out of the box so boomy as to be unusable. Now, they sound amazing... all with 2 free, light pieces of software that take a little work setting up and then... it's all good. I just have an AU Lab saved settings icon on my desktop that I click after a reboot and I have fantastic sound.Nancy Luong•a few seconds ago You don't need soundflower to record audio on screen recordings on quicktime. I can just select internal microphone, but didn't see that was an option till after I downloaded Soundflower. Now I have it installed but can't uninstall it.Joseph Mihalak•a few seconds ago Well, it doesn't work. I read the uninstall instructions and don't understand any of it. Programs like Clean My Mack won't find it so it cannot be uninstalled this way.
Definitely not for 'normal' users.
Do not recommend for users who are not programmers. The Ferg is the Word!•a few seconds ago I love it! Never had any issues with it, install is simple and easy and I'll never use anything else!Clayton Richardson•a few seconds ago Well, it sounds like a great program and I was sent here by a YouTube video that raved about this product and the problems it solved, however, this program would not install on my Mac and so I'll never know.(High Sierra OS10.13.4) Is there and upgrade or something, please, something, anything...Scott Heller•a few seconds ago Garbage. it works for some things, but makes other things not work. I used it to record internal sound on Quicktime screen recordings, but I found that it disabled my Shazam listening app, and had to uninstall to get Shazam to work.Anonymous•a few seconds ago waste of time.

This shows up as a blank "file" when you download it. Solutions anyone?Anonymous•a few seconds ago Doesn't Work.
Same problem. I downloaded it, followed the instructions & it just doesn't show under preferences to be able to select it. WTF?
Pros: Don't know, it doesn't work
Cons: It doesn't workAnonymous•a few seconds ago Does what it's supposed to do.
I've only used it a handful of times, but once I figured out how it works (not that difficult; you just have to pay attention to the instructions, know what I mean?). After setting it up, I was rather pleased with its performance, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do: route audio from various applications to your computer, with no apparent loss of quality.Anonymous•a few seconds ago the application refuses to work on my mac.

Cons: should work first then i can assessAnonymous•a few seconds ago Fixed sound volume control problem with HDMI audio.
Works ok with me on my Mac mini (mid 2011). Can now use volume control with sound via HDMI to display speakers, which is not normally possible, as HDMI audio output is fixed level.
